A Melbourne studio

The Hanoi Original is a small, independent design studio based in Melbourne, Australia. Our mission is to shield you from the sun and wind while looking effortlessly stunning in our scarves.

All scarves are hand-sketched by me and printed in small quantities on carefully selected fabrics. I put a lot of love into each scarf and I truly hope that you love them as much as I do.

While The Hanoi Original is a one-person show it could not happen without the support from my loyal customers and the amazing help from family, friends and Des together with the Lygon Court team. Thank you!

Meet the designer 

Please meet Eva Thien Huong, the artist behind the scarves!

Eva was born in, and grew up in Hanoi (hence The Hanoi Original). Eva holds a BA in Fine Arts and a MSc in Public Policy. As an enthusiastic life-long learner, Eva’s growing interest in fabric printing and a little bit of extra time during COVID led her to scarf design.

All of the scarf designs are inspired by Eva’s personal experiences and observations of nature, blended with her curiosity about the diverse cultures found around the world.

As a designer, she also sets out to work on designs that support causes which are meaningful to her, or to those close to her.

Check out her High Summer scarf to be inspired about the Australian Aboriginal people’s Six Seasons, or dream of the wonderful underwater worlds on the island of Phu Quoc pictured in her Red Coral design.
