Art exhibition Borderlands by artist Do Duc

Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. I am thrilled to share a personal and heartwarming experience that I recently had the pleasure of enjoying. I recently traveled back to the vibrant city of Hanoi to join my father in celebrating his latest art exhibition. Hanoi, with its rich history and bustling streets, has always held a special place in my heart. The moment we landed, I was immediately immersed in the familiar sights, sounds, and smells that make Hanoi so unique.

The highlight of my trip was, of course, my father's art exhibition. His work has always been a source of inspiration for me, and seeing his latest collection on display was truly awe-inspiring.

I grew up surrounded by my father's artistry, from woodcut prints, watercolor on do paper, to oil paintings. For over five decades, he has dedicated himself to exploring life in the mountainous regions, experimenting with materials and techniques. His dedication and creativity have inspired me deeply. The exhibition showcased 50 paintings, his incredible talent and the deep emotional connection he has with his art. Each piece told a story.

Two visitors, with him in the middle. Working full-time as a visual editor for a publishing house, he dedicated his evenings to painting until he retired 19 years ago. Since then, he’s been a full-time artist, devoting himself entirely to his craft. He's very active and working everyday still now at age 79!

The exhibition was a short 5 days at the Vietnam National Art Museumm in Hanoi. For those who's interest to know more: https://hanoitimes.vn/mountains-and-forests-in-the-heart-of-hanoi-painter-327944.html

Highlight: We organised an auction fundraiser featuring a painting, with all proceeds going towards constructing a primary school for children in Ha Giang. This initiative was supported by a not-for-profit group that my father has been actively involved with for 11 years. Thanks to the generosity of our bidders and direct contributors, we raised nearly 10,000 AUD. We are deeply grateful for the compassion and support of our community.
